About The DVD:
The Stewartstown Railroad, a long time historical landmark in Southern York County,
Pennsylvania, may seem dormant to the casual observer but the railroad is still very
much alive. The railroad last operated in April of 2004, when a significant derailment
interrupted its operations.
This Short Line is one of the oldest in the United States, 120 years old, and one of the most scenic in all of Pennsylvania. The line runs from downtown Stewartson through the Deer Creek Valley and into New Freedom, Pennsylvania.
The footage on this DVD was shot in 2003, the railroad's final season of operations before the fateful derailment. It offers a fantastic look from the start of the line at the Stewartstown Station and rides into Tolina. A perfectly captured historical look back at this short Line operation.
